Meet with your Drumming & Dance instructors for workshop in Ghanaian and African forms. Lunch (on own account) Continue to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, burial place of the first President of Ghana. Visit the popularly known Casket Making Shop at La where caskets are designed to reflect the earthly profession and the Artists Alliance Gallery. Proceed to visit the Independence Arch and Black Star Square- Accra’s ceremonial grounds and the Osu Castle. Breakfast Drumming and dance workshop at Kopeyia Hear the sound of the Brekete Drums. The brekete is a closed double-headed cylindrical snare-drum. It is made from one single piece of wood and has a snare on one side. Both membranes are stretched across the heads of the drum with laced ropes. The brekete drum bears decorative elements and has a cloth wound around it, like the Dagomba. The brekete is approximately 60 cm long and has a diameter of 45 cm. It has a full bass tone and is ideally suited to accompany dances. The drum is carried underneath the left arm with a strap and is struck with a wooden stick held in the right hand. Drive along hilly route via Ho Arrive and visit the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary where the endangered but playful True Mona Monkeys are considered sacred and are therefore protected. Walk on well-cleared trails and view the monkeys in their natural habitat. Drive past several rustic farming communities to Wli. Visit the Wli waterfalls – reputed to be the highest waterfalls in Ghana. Put on your trekking shoes and enjoy a walk through a dense tropical forest. This Castle served as the seat of the former colonial administration of the then Gold Coast (Ghana's former name) till 1877 when it was relocated to Accra. This famous UNESCO World Heritage site was visited by President Barack Obama, the first black president of the United States of America, in July 2009.
