SHORT CIRCUIT GHANA TOUR (A CULTURAL INTRODUCTION)

 

DAY 1:

  • Arrive in Accra, meet, assist and transfer to hotel
  • Brief orientation and check-into your room
  • Overnight:  2-5* Hotels in Accra

 

DAY 2: ACCRA CITY TOUR & SIGHTSEEING

  • Breakfast
  • Full day Accra City Tour.
  • Visit Kwame NkrumahMausoleum, WEB Du Bois Centre, Makola Market, drive through Old Accra – Jamestown (British Accra) & Dutch Accra. Drive around the Independence Arch, Black Star Square and shop at the Arts and Craft Market.
  • Dinner
  • Overnight:  2-5* Hotels in Accra B/D

 

DAY 3: ACCRA – ASANTE KINGDOM

Breakfast and hotel checkout

  • Depart to Kumasi and explore the Asante Kingdom
  • Go on a city tour of Kumasi visiting the Manhyia Palace and the Palace Museum.
  • See the National Cultural Centre, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, the Okomfo Anokye Sword and the Kumasi Central Market – the largest open-air market in West Africa.
  • Dinner
  • Overnight:  2-4* Hotels in Kumasi B/D

 

DAY 4: DAY WITH CRAFTSMEN – ELMINA TOUR

  • Breakfast
  • Depart Kumasi to Elmina with a stop to visit and Experience Asante craftmanship by visiting some of the Ashanti Craft villages– Bonwire/Adanwomse (Kente Weaving village), Ntonsu (Adinkra Village), Ahwiaa (Wood carving Village).
  • Visit the DONKO NSUO (the slave river) where the African captives were allowed to take their last bath in waters of their native land before transported to the slave dungeonsfor shipment to the Americas and Caribbean
  • See also the burial site of the remains of two ancestors and a third exhumed from New York’s Wall Street & Kingston Jamaica and re-interred on the Emancipation Day The third ancestor was also brought and interred by the Prime Minister of Barbados in November 2019 as part of the “YEAR OF RETURN” GHANA 2019.

DAY 5: RAINFORESTS AND UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITES

  • Breakfast
  • Visit the Kakum National Parkand go on a hike in the forest to experience the canopy walkway suspended 100ft from the forest ground.
  • Continue to visit the Cape Coast Castlea UNESCO Heritage Site which was originally started by the Swedes in 1652 for a comprehensive guided tour of the Castle, the slave dungeons and the West African Heritage Museum, and the negotiation hall where our ancestors were bargained for and sold.

DAY 6: ELMINA - ACCRA

  • Breakfast and hotel checkout
  • Return to Accra
  • Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure
