ECO-ADVENTURE IN GHANA (ECO-TOURISM ACROSS GHANA)

 

DAY 1:

  • Arrive in Accra, meet, assist and transfer to hotel
  • Brief orientation and check-into your room

DAY 2: ACCRA CITY TOUR & SIGHTSEING

  • Breakfast
  • Full day Accra City Tour.
  • Visit Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, WEB Du Bois Centre, Makola Market, drive through Old Accra – Jamestown (British Accra)& Dutch Accra. Drive around the Independence Arch, Black Star Square and shop at the Arts and Craft Market.

DAY 3: ACCRA – AKOSOMBO WITH SAVANNAH GAME PARK

  • Breakfast
  • Hiking and bikingat Shai Hills Game Reserve
  • Explore ancestral Cavesof the Shai people as well as game viewing of the Baboons, antelopes & bird watching
  • Abseilingoff a 20-metre Mogo Rock face at the Shai Hills reserve.

DAY 4: ABSEILING & KAYAKING

  • Breakfast
  • Engage in various kayaking and abseiling adventure activities
  • Abseiling the 20-metre cliff of the gorge of Lake Volta
  • For the love of adventure, Kayak on one of the largest man-made lake in the worldto the beautiful Survival Islands
  • Lunch

DAY 5: AKOSOMBO – ASANTE KINGDOM

  • Breakfast and hotel checkout
  • Depart to Kumasi and explore the Asante Kingdom
  • Go on a city tour of Kumasi visiting the Manhyia Palace and the Palace Museum.
  • See the National Cultural Centre, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum, the Okomfo Anokye Sword and the Kumasi Central Market – the largest open-air market in West Africa.

DAY 6: DAY WITH ASHANTI CRAFTSMEN

  • Breakfast
  • Experience Asante craftsmanship by visiting some of the Ashanti Craft villages– Bonwire/Adanwomse (Kente Weaving village), Ntonsu (Adinkra Village), Ahwiaa (Wood carving Village).
  • Visit Lake Bosomtwiand go on a boat ride of Ghana’s only natural lake situated within an ancient impact crater.

DAY 7: KUMASI - ELMINA

  • Breakfast
  • Depart Kumasi to Elmina with a stop at a local palm winetapper’s shade and observe the distillation of a local alcohol beverage called “AKPETESHIE”
  • Visit the Elmina Castlea UNESCO Heritage Site. The first and oldest European structure built of any substance on African soil; built by the Portuguese in 1482. Go on a comprehensive guided tour of the castle and see the slave dungeons and condemn cells where enslaved Africans who attempted to escape were incarcerated.

DAY 8: RAINFOREST AND UNESCO SITES

  • Breakfast
  • Visit the Kakum National Parkand go on a hike in the forest to experience the canopy walkway suspended 100ft from the forest ground.
  • Continue to visit the Cape Coast Castlea UNESCO Heritage Site which was originally started by the Swedes in 1652 for a comprehensive guided tour of the Castle, the slave dungeons and the West African Heritage Museum, and the negotiation hall where our ancestors were bargained for and sold.

DAY 9: ELMINA - ACCRA

  • Breakfast
  • Day free for rest and relaxationat hotel’s beach or enjoy swimming in your hotel’s pool and use other facilities.

DAY 10: ELMINA - ACCRA

  • Breakfast
  • Return to Accra
  • Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure

DAY 11: ACCRA & UNIVERSITY BOTANICAL GARDENS

  • Breakfast
  • Visit the University of Ghana Botanical Gardensand experience various outdoor activities like High Rope Course, Canoeing, Zipline, etc.
  • Rest of day free to enjoy your last day in Accra

DAY 12: DEPARTURE
